“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
― Anaïs Nin
I’ve been intrigued with Shitake mushroom for a while now.
Actually I’ve been intrigued about something I heard from a grower of these fungi. He told me that to make shitakes produce better fruit, you need to whack them with a stick.
It’s true, shitakes grown better when they are given a thump. They yield better when they are agitated and made uncomfortable! Isn’t that the coolest thing!
In truth . . . that’s what I do for my clients. I give my clients a big ole thump (or kick in the “but”) to get them moving.
Now Back to Mushrooms
A shitake farmer begins by drilling small holes into a log and then placing the mushroom spores inside. The mushrooms then settle into these dark, little crevices and begin to take root.
While these gloomy, fertile holes offer the perfect conditions for the mushroom to take root . . . the mushrooms can get lazy. They can get a little TOO comfortable and kind nod off to sleep.
That’s why the grower has to go and stimulate them or wake them up. These mushrooms have things to do! They need to get up and grow and find their way to my pizza! These shitakes, if left on their own, might just fall into an underachieving pattern of complacency.
So it is with Coaching
We humans get nice and comfy and complacent in our little holes too. This is especially true after a long, cold winter like we’ve just had.
That’s when we need to be thumped.
We need to be agitated or coaxed or maybe even shocked out of our comfort zones.
If you are ready to produce better, to shake off the winter and to really create the successful life you want, call me today. I know, this sounds like an infomercial, but I mean it. Call me and let’s get started today.
Don’t spend another year . . . another month . . . or another day stuck. Let me thump you and get you growing again.
